We have fresh milk! Yay!
When we first moved here we looked everywhere for fresh milk. We simply could not find any. People around here are scared to sell. I know when we sold goats milk we had to state that it was not for human consumption. I just do not understand why the government feels they have a right to tell me what I can and can not drink. I mean its not like I am getting drunk and then driving. I simply want to feed my family REAL food and without all of the hormones and antibiotics and drugs they put into milk these days. It is I who am taking the risk of getting sick from it. And pasteurization, well I get the theory behind it, boiling out the bad stuff, but whenever you boil the bad are you not boiling out the good as well? However in my opinion I am taking more of a chance drinking the store bought milk then I am fresh milk.

Huge fan of raw milk here. Unfortunatly we do not have a good source. Occasionally we are able to get it from a goat farm but it is to far away to get often. We have thought of doing dairy goats since we already have goats and love them but we really don't have the money, room or time. We also wouldn't be able to part with the babies :-)
ReplyDeleteoh we would rather goat milk any day of the week that's for sure! Yes I have to drive about 20-25 min. to get the milk, but we find it worth it. just to get it once a week. Getting rid of the kids can be hard, but when you ahve it in your mind you need that milk, it makes it a little easier :-) I do wish we would have kept 2 or 3, but Jamie said if we are getting rid of, get rid of them all for a time. Good luck, I am sure God has a plan for your family with this. Maybe he is preparing you with the goats you do have for milking goats :-)
DeleteLove raw milk, but unfortunately, I live in MD, where it's illegal. Which is SO frustrating because twinkies and ho-hos are sold as food, but raw milk is not.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree with you more, the junk they sell us is just awful, yet we can't eat real food, like raw milk!
