 I have been practicing attachment parenting, before I even knew what attachment parenting was. Baby carriers are an absolute must around our house. I have wraps, slings and soft structured carriers. The only thing I was missing was a water carrier. I had never even heard of one until about a year ago. I had been looking around for one since then. I was thrilled when I found an American Made mesh water sling called

Beachfront Baby Wraps water wrap carriers are recommended for babies that are 8lb-30, perfect for us, one size fits most adults, again perfect for us, then I don't have to worry about losing or gaining weight. They are 15feet (the typical wrap length) of mesh (100% polyester) material so that mama and baby/toddler can breath in the hot summer weather.

My first intentions with my Beachfront Baby Wraps water wrap carrier was for in the shower. I had one of those sling styled ones, and did not feel safe in it. I think showering with my little one is so much less stressful and less to deal with, rather then a big bulky baby tub. Not to mention the fact a shower is healthier then a bath. I also think it helps get them used to being in a shower, for when they are of the age to take a regular shower.I will add that, it does not stretch so you need to allow for that.

  The material is extremely soft and breathable, as I mentioned above it is mesh. We do not go to a public pool to often, however when we do, it is not much fun for me or my husband half of the time, because one of us is holding the baby (we tend to have one at least every other year) and the other has to be with the younger children who need constant attention. With the Beachfront Baby Wraps water wrap carrier, I can wear the baby, as I would like to begin with, and watch the other two young ones while hubby gets to play with the older children and we all are happy. I also can walk around in the pool with her and not worry about a slippery baby being bumped or something and slipping from my hands. So this also allows for more fun play at the pool.

 We tend to be a pretty active family, especially in the summer. With our newest little one it has been a little difficult. She is finicky when we go out. She also tends to get hot, if she is all wrapped up. Beachfront Baby Wraps water wrap carrier has also helped with that as well. Whether it is a walk at the track on a sunny day, a parade downtown or a day at the park with the family, she doesn't have to be all covered to the point of being over heated, because of the mesh material.

 Over all I would say that Beachfront Baby Wraps water wrap carriers are a wonderful wrap for the experienced or non experienced baby wearer. especially all of the active families in the summer. It can be worn in or out of the water, therefore it can be a great addition to a baby wearers collection or it can stand alone as the one and only wrap you have. You can choose from 10 colors so it can suit you perfectly.

Pros: breathable, dries quickly, nice and tight so baby is safe
Cons: not stretchable, however on their behalf, this would be impossible to make the water wrap stretchable.

Wordless Wednesday

With A New Baby, Comes New Things

  Having a new baby has kept me so busy, yet I feel like I don't get much of anything done. Our newest little one is quite finicky. She loves my rocking chair, so when I am not in it, she tends to cry more. Which I am not used to, and frankly it breaks my heart. She is never put down, so if I need to get something done, where I can't hold her my oldest daughter is holding her usually. After 7 older children I am finally learning to ask for and appreciate their help. They have even been helping with potty training one of the little ones, which I am so thankful for.
 

what I don't want

I never have been one to sit around and do nothing, so this has been somewhat of a challenging time for me. Some days, despite the fact I have already sat around far to much I just feel like enjoying something chocolate.

what I do want

 I can sympathize with mama's of little ones trying to loose weight. I know it can be so difficult. I myself have been trying to stay away from my beloved Alden's and getting to the track to walk for an hour everyday (when it's not raining). My husband asked me why it mattered if I was just going to have more babies. As sweet as that was meant to be, it is so important to me to be healthy. And I so love taking the kids, so they are getting their exercise as well.

Baby Orchid is very different then all of our other babies, and that's ok. She knows what she likes and she isn't afraid to let us know. There are many things that have changed since having our 8th little one, but one of the most treasured times for me is when I am sitting, holding her. Her tummy full and her heart happy.

This beautiful baby girl will have a lot to learn and a lot to experience, as she grows. However I am certain that she will have a lot of big sisters (and a brother) to help teach her the ropes and to love her along the way.

Boba Wrap Review/Giveaway

   When I was introduced to Boba, my little one was big enough to be in the Boba 3G, which we all know how much I love. We also leave our Boba Air in the vehicle or diaper bag at ALL times. We are a Boba loving family for sure. So when I had a new baby I knew I had to have a Boba Wrap. I went with the Organic in Khaki, however Boba has several different colors and prints varying in price.
  I think wraps are a necessity for a new baby. I holds baby close to mama, in a variety of positions. It can be worn from newborn through toddler hood. Wearing baby in the Boba Wrap lets me get so much more done. I don't know what I would do without it. I don't dare try to lay Orchid down, if I do she instantly cries, or wakes up and cries. The Boba Wrap also lets my go shopping, while she sleeps comfortably and cozy right against my chest.

  As many of us know the best place for baby is in our arms. our warmth comforts them, the beat of our heart calms them and our voice soothes them. Which are all very important reasons to wear our babies. However not all carriers are made alike. Many are marketed for even newborns, and are just awful for children. Many cause a newborns legs to be separated in an uncomfortable way, which can cause damage to their hips. Many hug their umm...private parts, again not only uncomfortable, but can not be good for development. Some do not support the spine or baby's weight correctly. With the Boba Wrap you do not have to worry about any of that. The Boba Wrap is safe for baby's growing body, and has no ill side effects when worn properly.
    I enjoy taking walks with all of our children and the Boba Wrap lets me do that. Even in the heat, I can wear Orchid and we do not get hot, which to be honest I was a bit surprised.

  I have become quit a pro at wrapping the Boba in just a couple of tries. It is extremely easy. It doesn't have any buckles or straps or snaps, I love it! I was asked once, isn't she getting heavy, and no she wasn't, not while in the Boba Wrap, I could wear her all day with ease. A little extra perk I didn't know is that it came with its own carrying bag, made of the same stretchy material the wrap is made of.
  I love the Boba Family. Boba has all of a babywearers needs met, from newborns(wrap) to toddlers (3G & Air) and even a vest you can wear over baby to keep your little one against you in your carrier in the colder months! Boba is such a wonderful and complete company. I have always been impressed with Boba's products.

Orchid's Birth Story

 It all started on Good Friday. Our Pastor challenged all of us (if able) to fast until the services that evening. So I thought I would as well, I do NOT recommend fasting for an entire day while pregnant. I started contracting mid afternoon. We left the service a little early and thought maybe...We ate supper and my husband was so excited he wanted to set up the birthing pool. I told him no, I wanted to wait but he was excited. He said he would leave it up if nothing came of it.
  Shortly after I ate, the contractions stopped. Which I had thought was a big possibility of happening. The next day was very uneventful. Our two youngest got in the pool and played around. They kept referring it to it as a boat, it was very cute. I got in and it was very soothing to my hips and tailbone. Off and on I would have steady contractions, but I was trying not to say anything. My husband was asking several times a day "anything" He stayed around the house that whole week, just in case.
   On the April 5th a little after midnight I felt a good contraction while laying in bed. I decided to get up and go to the bathroom. I walked slowly just to give my body a chance to have another, if it was going to. I knew they were different, as we more experienced mama's typically do. I wanted my husband to get as much sleep as he could, and I was afraid Syhven (our little one sleeping beside/with us) would wake up. I began to set things up, fill the pool up and such. I had tried to get my worship music play list started, with no luck.
          

the last couple of hours of my pregnancy

 I woke my husband at around 1:30 a.m. or so maybe. My seven year old awoke with bad dreams, so she was laying on the couch, while our thirteen year old was sleeping in our bed just in case Syhven woke up. I was hoping she wouldn't, but she had never slept through the night as of yet. So I was hoping our daughter could keep her calm while I was busy. On a little side note, Syhven has started sleeping through the night pretty much every night since Orchid has been born. Which is an awesome answered prayer. I had been worried at first, and just gave my worries to God. I figured He put it in me to co-sleep so He was going to have to fix it. And He did :-) Praise HimThankfully my husband was able to get my worship music playing.
  Now I had never used music during my labors, but after reading Redeeming Childbirth by Angie Tolpin (highly recommend) I used her play list to create my own, and it was a God send.
  I got into the pool and turned my focus to the Lord. I tend to turn inward while in labor so my husband would lay down for a few minutes and come back in to check on me. He left me alone for the main part, and that's what I wanted. I enjoyed listening and very quietly singing with the music between the contractions. During the contractions, I would pray, or often I found myself singing the chorus "like a rose, trampled on the ground, you took the fall and thought of me, above all". The Lord sent this chorus to me, to remind me of His Love and His Power. It was amazing, in my past deliveries I have always prayed for strength and thanked Jesus for my baby directly after delivery, but I have never been entirely focused on the Lord like I was this time. He was in every moment of this labor and delivery, again thanks to Redeeming Childbirth.
  When I knew it was very close I told my husband "if you want to record it, you better turn on the camera now". He did and he got into the pool. With the next contraction, I had the urge to push. For the first time with my water deliveries I felt my waters break. Once the head was out, my husband wanted me to push again, I assured him it was ok and I waited until I felt the urge again. As I pushed my little baby girl out from my body and into her daddy's hands, I called out to the Lord "Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ be with me" and He was! Orchid Catherine was born at 3:34 A.M. and moments later our five oldest children came running. They met their little sister, who was covered in thick vernix to my surprise, and I asked them to go back to bed for now. When they did, My husband and I were beaming at what God had blessed us with, and my personal favorite song, The Revelation Song, came on. I began to sing, without noticing. I glanced at my loving husband and saw he was also singing. It was a very beautiful moment.
  I delivered the placenta about twenty minutes later. I handed over my precious darling to her big brother (who was thrilled with this honor) and rinsed off in the shower. My husband helped me to and fro. I went into the living room and nursed for over forty minutes! Once she was finished, daddy weighed and measured her. She weighed in at 8lbs 14oz to my amazement, and 20 1/2 inches.  Everything was perfect that night Praise God.

I want to add, that I love having our babies at home. It is such a very wonderful blessing. We also have chosen to deliver our children without the assistance of another midwife. I had always felt good about my births. I was turned on to Redeeming Childbirth, a book by Angie Tolpin. I was so very blessed by this book, as are many I am sure. As we later watched the birth of  Orchid that we had recorded then went back and watched our now three years old birth. I was shocked at how much more peaceful Orchids birth was, even in the last moments, I was so calm. My breathing was even much calmer. I know this is due to reading Angie's book and putting into practice all she suggests. I had the birth I had prayed for, and Christ was with me every moment. I felt His presence and it was so reassuring, and such a blessing. I know that for any and all births, I will be rereading Redeeming Childbirth throughout my pregnancy. I highly recommend everyone to buy this book, you will certainly be blessed as well. It is not just for homebirthing mama's either. As Angie points out God not only can be with you even in the operating room, if you have to have a cesarean section, but He should be with you.
